Section 1.6: Study it. Work on exercises 1-10. (I am not asking you to submit any at this point.)

Section 1.9: Study it. Work on your choice of exercises 1-18.

Reproduce with some modifications to our Mathematica program Tables 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 Will post homework before friday afternoon.

Exercise 1.B

Find formula for y' = -2t^2, y(0)=1. (Done in the textbook.)

Reproduce with our program Tables 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5

Read Section 1.7 and work in all of the exercises 1--21

Submit exercises 2, 8, 10, 18

Challenge: Modify our program and use Euler's method to get values for the i.v.p that appears in Fig. 2.4

Let's try this this week:

Study again chapter 2. Work also on 3.1 and exercises. What are we learning in these pages (Chap 2 and 3.1) ? Try to see the "story-line".

Work on lots of exercises. Bring to class questions and exercises you could not do after trying.

Study 3.1 and 3.2 work on all exercises. Bring questions to class


For Tuesday, Nov 3

We will continue to work on Linear Systems, chapters 3 and 4. However, the GLOBAL picture is that of Nonlinear systems, and this is treated in your book on Chapter 5.

Read/study 5.1 Work on exercises 3, 4, 5 and 6. Do as much as you can, and bring your work to class.

Skip Chapter 4
