|
Born in England, I moved to Australia with my family when I
was fairly young. I completed an undergraduate degree at the University
of Sydney before coming to the USA for graduate school. I was
awarded a
Ph.D. in May 2004 by the Department of Mathematics at the University of Illinois
, Urbana-Champaign. My PhD
advisor was Nigel Boston.
From September 2004 to August 2007 I was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics
at the University
of Massachusetts, Amherst. Currently I am a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Smith
College. |

I work in algebraic number theory. In particular I'm interested in questions about the structure of certain Galois groups that are associated to arithmetically interesting extensions of number fields. The study of such groups and their representations is an important development in modern number theory and has lead to many advances in our understanding of more classical problems (eg. Fermat's Last Theorem and other Diophantine equations). |
