Course Content:  A seminar introduction to computer networks, with a special focus on the Internet.  Prerequisite: CSC 231

 

Textbook: Computer Networking: A top-Down Approach Featuring the Internet,

          2nd edition, by James F. Kurose and Keith W. Ross

 

Required Work: 

·        We will divide into 4 teams of 3 students each.  Each team is responsible for 4 class presentations of material from Chapters 2 – 6 of the text.  The presentation schedule is on the attached course outline. 

·        Each student will propose and write a research paper.  A substantive programming project with a written report may count as a research paper.

·        Each student is expected to participate in class discussion.

 

Course Grade: Class participation will count as 20% of your grade.  The team class presentation will count as 60% of your grade.  The research paper will count as 20% of your grade.

 

Honor Code: The research paper that you must submit must be your own.  Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions about how the honor code applies in this course.
